A short visual summary of the renovations that we took on to transform our space into what it is today. Many of the materials used in the renovations were rescued from the dump and given new life by decorating our space.
1 : to restore to a former better state (as by cleaning, repairing, or rebuilding)
2 : to restore to life, vigor, or activity : REVIVE
Jacob’s Well began renovations on our storefront space at the end of April 2005. This was a huge undertaking and something we had been hoping to do for a number of years to make our place more functional and usable. We had an open house to celebrate on October 22nd, 2005.
With hospitality and gratitude we welcomed several hundred people to celebrate the opening of our re-created space in the storefront on Main Street. These “renos” were only completed as a result of the prayers, encouragement, financial support and many hours of people working together. Not only are we thankful for the many people who helped but also for the opportunities we have had to work together, side by side (on wobbly scaffolding or with knees on wood floors) listening to one another's stories and sharing simple meals, cultivating our life together as the Jacob’s Well Community. We are so thankful to God and to all those who helped with this huge undertaking.
